A delicious dinner at Tasca Iberica

We had the most fabulous dinner on Saturday night at a restaurant I’ve never been to before. Tasca Iberica, near Gale, Albufeira (Algarve) was a breath of fresh air. Super stylish decor, excellent service and the food? Well… it was absolutely divine. I’ll definitely be returning!

OMG the cheese was out of this world – all of which was sheep’s cheese, which is awesome because I can’t eat the regular stuff.

The sausage platter was divine and the perfect amount for four.

Yummy bruschetta

The roast peppers were very tasty but could’ve benefitted from a little salt.

The cod looked delicious (and hubby agreed that it was)

The four of us chose a few starters (tapas, really) to share between us, which were super delicious – cheese platter, sausage platter, peppers and bruschetta. Then onto the main course. I went for the pork with cockles which was heavenly – the best pork I’ve ever tasted (seriously, it was THAT melt in your mouth good). It comes served with ‘xerem’ (a polenta-type side-dish) but I opted for chips instead (!). Other choices were cod (which hubby thoroughly enjoyed) and lamb cutlets, both of which looked seriously good (and I was assured they both were).

I loved the basket the chips were served in!

Orange torte

I skipped dessert (which I often do due to my lactose intolerance) but there were some yummy choices on offer including orange torte or lime mousse.

On top of all that we had a couple of bottles of water and a large ‘jug’ of house white wine, which was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. All in all, it was a fabulous feast and came to around 30 euros a head, very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food served. It truly was a delicious dinner at Tasca Iberica.

One day I’ll go and see what the rooms are like behind this gate!

When we exited the restaurant later that night, we noticed it’s actually part of a ‘hostel’ with rooms to rent. I must hasten to add, it looked more like a five star hotel rather than a hostel! I’m quite intrigued to see what the rooms are like. But perhaps that’ll be another post for another time 🙂
