An evening to remember at Penina in my blue linen shift dress

Blue linen shift dress – a new favourite!Blue linen dress

I spotted this blue linen shift dress whilst browsing the sales in Quebramar recently and I couldn’t resist trying it on. I’m glad I did because it’s made me realise that shift dresses really do suit me (I never thought they did). But you know the real bonus? It was only 17 euros in the sale!

Penina Hotel

I’ve worn it a couple of times since buying it but pictured here was for a dressier occasion. A friend of ours kindly invited us to dine with him at the Penina Hotel. We decided to arrive early to have a little wander and take some photos. Isn’t it the most beautiful location? The hotel has been in existence for many, many years and it’s still as impressive now as it was in the early days (not that I was around then lol). It’s just to serene and immaculate. We had a wonderful meal, although I must admit to having a bit of a hangover the following morning DOH!

Our friend kindly invited us to the Penina for dinner last year too and I did blog about my outfit at the time. It was certainly a very different look to this blue linen shift dress! I wore a figure hugging black dress with one heck of a low bust line lol. And my hair was super short too! You can check it out here.

But back to my new favourite blue linen dress – it’s the perfect dress to wear in the heat (because of the linen, obviously), and I love that it doesn’t cling to any part of my body.

Floral peep-toe heels

Because I wanted to dress it up a bit, I added my gorgeous floral peep-toe heels which are surprisingly comfortable, probably because they’ve got a bit of a hidden platform. I knew I wanted a statement necklace so I opted for this beauty which was gifted to me from Happiness Boutique last year. You might remember me featuring it at the time? I love it’s art deco feel.

On our last visit to the US, hubby bought me a gorgeous pair of diamante hoop ear-rings and I figured they’d be perfect to wear with this outfit. My pale pink leather handbag was a gift from my mother-in-law quite a few years ago and it’s perfect as an alternative to a clutch. And this stunning purple bracelet was a gift from one of my closest friends.

The scarf was from Stradivarius in the sales. I’d had my eye on it for a few months but, determined to get a bargain, I patiently waited for the sales to start. I hoped they wouldn’t all be sold out. I got lucky! So I bought one in pink and another in black. Originally, the price was 12 euros (already cheap but I do love a bargain!) and I got them for 3 euros each YAY!

Do you ever wait for the sales to buy a certain item? Do you usually get lucky?
