Why I love my fabulous new Tropilex hammock

Here’s me deep in thought, worrying about the current situation that we’re all going through. It’s such a difficult moment in time for so many – especially all those amazing health workers that are putting themselves at risk every day just going to work. My heart goes out to them, and everyone else who has been affected.

Corona virus in Portugal

Here in Portugal, the numbers of deaths and people infected rises every day. But I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be living in such a wonderful country, where people are respectful of the new rules we must abide by. Respectful of each other, and respectful of the elderly and sick. When we have left the house (twice in several weeks – once to shop for groceries for us, and once to shop for groceries for my father), we haven’t seen anyone panic-buying and the shops remain almost fully stocked.
The second time we went out, we did see an increase in security guards maintaining a sense of calm within the supermarkets – assisting in making sure there were only a certain number of people entering the shop at any given time. I was impressed, and I felt safe. Both times we wore gloves, and the second time we wore face masks that I made at home (because they were sold out).

Corona virus elsewhere

We have been keeping up-to-date on what’s happening around the world, and have been saddened to see so many people struggling to buy basic food and essential items because of stockpiling by others. Nurses were unable to buy food after 48 hour shifts. It was shocking, and made me feel even more fortunate to be living here.
But what shocked me even more was the fact that so many people were ignoring the new rules which were put in place to keep us safe. To try and stem the corona virus from spreading unnecessarily throughout the communities. Pictures in the press showed crowds of people mingling and spreading the virus needlessly. Kids allowed to play in large groups. I just cannot understand the mentality of people who would do such a thing, when so many people have died. It breaks my heart.

The perfect hammock

But that’s enough of that. This post was meant to show you something that makes me smile (even though I’m not smiling in the photos!). It’s my new Tropilex hammock which was gifted to me recently. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll probably know that I chose the colour myself lol. Yes, it’s green, and a beautiful shade of green too!

I simply adore hammocks. They are one of the most relaxing ways to… well, erm, relax! They’re super comfortable and are the perfect way to just wile away the time with a good book, or a snooze. We temporarily hung the Tropilex hammock where our old hammock used to be, however we are planning on putting it up in our fancy new BBQ area. Unfortunately, with the current lockdown in place, we haven’t been able to buy the hooks needed to hang it. So I will be posting more pictures of the hammock when that eventually happens (hopefully it won’t be too long).

Tropilex hammock details

For now though, I’ll let you admire this gorgeous green hammock that was handmade in Columbia. But first, here’s some details about the hammock itself directly from the Tropilex website:

“The weight is being distributed better along the ropes which results in optimal relaxing comfort. Moreover, the ropes are not fixed onto the hammock, but originate directly out of the hammock itself. Thus, the hammock gets its specific extra Tropilex look and there is up to 30% less chance that the ropes will snap.
The fabric of this hammock is made from 70% cotton, 30% polyester and is up to 20% thicker than other brands!
The cotton combined with the special patterns gives the hammock the ultimate soft character.
At the same time the polyester yarns ensure that the cotton gets not stretched too much. These hammocks can handle a rain shower. However, we do advise you to keep the hammock dry if not in use.
The canvas is woven up to 20% more tight compared to other hammocks. This provides extra comfort and makes the hammock extra sturdy.
Tropilex hammocks are made in Colombia. Colombia is the perfect hammock country!
By paying a fair price for the hammocks and supervising the working conditions, each Tropilex hammock contributes to the prosperity of this growing developing region.”

Tropilex hammock

Tropilex has a wide variety of colours and sizes of hammocks for you to choose from, so you’ll be spoilt for choice! I’m absolutely delighted with mine, and I can’t wait for some glorious summer sun so I can spend hours relaxing on it with a good book lol! I was really impressed when it arrived in record time too.

My outfit

This is my newest pair of jeans that I bought back in January from Zara. I think they were about 12 euros at the time. Talk about a bargain! And, because they’re green, I fell in love with them the second I spotted them lol. It was the very last pair too.

I purchased the jacket from Sainsbury’s in November and I absolutely adore it, don’t you?
A gift from mother-in-law, the necklace is one of three in different colours (at least) that she bought for me at Christmas. She also gave me this beautiful ring for Christmas, and the bracelet too. And, because the outfit was all about comfort, I was also wearing my stunning black Calla boots.

And that’s it for today. So, if you’re looking to get some serious relaxing in, I highly recommend you check out Tropilex for the perfect hammock for your garden, terrace or even bedroom! As mentioned previously, I’ll be sharing more pics when we finally buy the wall hooks for the BBQ area.
