Mum jeans or mom jeans (whatever you want to call them) – you either love ’em or you hate ’em. I love them. Hubby hates them. They can be very plain and very boring but if you jazz them up a bit, then they become way more fun, right?!

How to wear mum jeans

Yes if you wear mum jeans with old white trainers and a frumpy top, they’re going to look downright blah, but roll up the hems and team them with heels and the look instantly changes. Add to that some fun jewellery and you’ve got a winning outfit.

Hubby, on the other hand, still doesn’t like these ones so much. He reckons they make my bum look too flat – do I care? Not really 😉

In  this outfit, I added a brown buckle belt that I’ve had for years. I think it came free with a pair of shorts about twenty years ago lol. And it’s still good. I think this wooden bracelet and my brown suede wrap bracelet go really well with the belt too.

I couldn’t make up my mind which necklace to wear, so I figured I’d wear them both. Why not? The choker is a particular favourite that I wear a lot throughout the summer. It has a native American vibe that I’m a fan of. I pinched another of my hubby’s watches – this one is by BMW (surprisingly) and then I threw on my woolly cricket cardigan for some added warmth.

You might remember these shoes from another post recently but they were exactly right for this outfit and they’re super comfortable too. I do love all the darker browns in the accessories of this outfit – they just work together. probably because they’re all neutral tones. Luna seemed to love it too 😉

I was so excited last week because I realised my hair is finally long enough to put in a pony tail YAY! Okay, okay, so it’s a bit of a pathetic pony tail with my hair falling out all over the place but it is a pony tail nonetheless. So now when I’m having a bad hair day (I was here), I can now just whip it up into a little pony 🙂

How to make your eyes look amazing in photos

Mum Jeans

Here’s a close-up of one of the photos hubby took of me last week. Although there’s a few too many shadows, I do like the photo. I think it’s because my eyes look a bit ‘supernatural’. Here’s a trick: close your eyes until the photographer is ready to click, then open them just seconds before and bam – your eyes will look amazing!

I am overly reliant on the pony tail, but I’ll never cut my hair so short I’ll ever be without it. Short ponies work just fine.

I think those jean look great. I need you to give my closet a make-over.

    • LOL Elizabeth, if only we lived closer. I’d have loved to come over for a cup of tea and a closet make-over 😉 lol

  • Ha!! I bought a pair of super-slouchy jeans recently (part of the denim shopping binge I’ve been on recently!) and my hubby is also SOOO not a fan!! I guess boyfriend/mom jeans are a trend that men just don’t “get”…but that’s okay; we should always dress to please ourselves first and foremost anyways!! P.S. I’d actually consider your jeans more of the “boyfriend” variety because they sit a little lower on your hips; when I think of “mom jeans” I think of a much higher waist. I love the way you’ve accessorized yours with the belt, jewelry and shoes; once again, I’d wear this look in a heartbeat, dearest Suzy!! XOXO

    • Hi Monika! The funny thing is, when I first looked at my photos, my instant reaction was ‘I could imagine Monika wearing this outfit!’ so I was so delighted when you popped over and commented! You’re absolutely right about the jeans actually being more of a boyfriend style – I never even thought about the low waist. Thanks for pointing that out!

      • I’m seriously honoured that you thought of me when you put together this look, Suzy…I’ll take that as a huge compliment!! 😀

I am laughing so hard over here because I too love them but my husband hates them, ha ha. You look grand my love, I love the black with them and I love howfun and flirty they look! They fit you so so well! And I love your ponytail! Super cute! And in response to your sweet comment, how funny is that that you too are building your new lovely home! We can keep up on each other’s progress together. It will be so fun. I am so excited. We are somewhat in the planning stages too, waiting for our final plans and the signing the final “contract”. They have set our dig to begin June 12 seeing as all goes well. Wishing you so much love and luck as you begin this journey beautiful lady! Have a splendid week my friend!

    • Andrea, we do have lots of common, don’t we? I just really wish we lived closer so we could meet up. Maybe one of these days I’ll get the chance to go to the US again and then we can meet for dinner and cocktails! I’m super excited to hear more about your plans – I do love American houses. They’re usually so much bigger than the ones here! Wishing you lots of love and luck on your journey too, beautiful!
