My new pixie haircut

What do you think of my new pixie haircut? It had been almost two months since my last haircut and I was certainly ready to go for the chop! This time I decided to keep a little more length at the front but go super short at the sides and back. I’m thrilled with the result – not only is it incredibly easy to style, but I think it’s quite flattering too. It shows off my cheekbones nicely 😉

Pixie Haircut

Please excuse the photos, I took these selfies with my Samsung phone so they’re not brilliant.

I first had my hair cut really short about four years ago – donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust at the same time. I also did a sponsored cut in aid of Make a Wish Foundation. If I remember correctly, I raised about 800 dollars which was amazing. Here’s a video I made at the time, featuring the actual moment I got the chop:

I kept my hair short for about a year but then decided to grow it again – I had various different styles over the past three years but decided to crop it again late last year. It was a real spur of the moment decision after watching Insurgent and seeing Shailene Woodley chop all her hair off in the film. I knew then that I had to go short again lol! It’s funny what inspires us, isn’t it?

I have been tempted to actually shave all my hair off but Michael has put his foot down about that lol! One day I might actually do it for charity though. I reckon it will be totally liberating. Cutting my hair short in the first place felt like that but the most liberating thing I’ve ever done with regards to my personal style was to decide to stop dyeing my hair. That was one of the most wonderful decisions, I’ve ever made. My dad has got really silvery white hair and I take after him. I’ve got loads of white hairs now and I LOVE them. I must say, if I woke up tomorrow morning with a head full of white hair, I’d be over the moon. I think women with grey / white / silver hair look beautiful. I love it when we embrace our true colour. But I do realise most women are way too petrified to do it – they’re frightened it will age them or won’t suit them.

Well, it will suit them because it’s natural. As for ageing – of course there’s a chance it could age them a little but it won’t make them any older than they actually are. Most women I know want to look younger. But why? I’m 40 and proud to look 40. I really do wish that women would love themselves enough to accept who they truly are – grey hair and all!
