Buying for me and no-one else: ombre effect sweater

Although it might look like this post is all about our Aloe Vera plant which is the focus of this photo, it’s surprisingly not (!). Taken several weeks ago before the weather cooled down at home, I wanted to show you a favourite ombre effect sweater I bought a few years ago which has never appeared on the blog.

Ombre effect sweaterFor quite a few years I paid way too much attention to what Michael thought I should wear. If he didn’t like something, I wouldn’t buy it. Period. One such thing was that he didn’t seem to like clothes that had an ombre effect. I, on the other hand, loved them.

Was I so lacking in self confidence that I couldn’t stand up for what I liked? It’s funny how things change as you get older. Now though, if I really love something, but he doesn’t like it, I’m more likely to say ‘stuff it, I’m having it anyway.’ Which is the way it ought to be, isn’t it? Obviously I’ll avoid anything that he hates with a passion because I do want to look good for my husband. Of course I do.

But I’m rambling. I mentioned ombre didn’t I? Well, it was the ombre effect sweater that drew me to it in the first place. That and the gorgeous shade of blue. And the fact that it’s blue and black and you’ve got a match made in heaven. Not to mention the longer length and pockets make it perfect to wear with skinny jeans or leggings. It didn’t take me long to take it to the till in TK Maxx! I’m still surprised that I’ve never had it on the blog before. Funny thing is, he kinda likes it now (cue eye roll)! One of my little cats gave me the nod of approval too 😉

I’m teaming it with one of my other favourites: my black leather knee high boots which I wear all the time because of their comfort and practicality. They look pretty good too 😉 Skinny jeans were the order of the day and my trusty black cross body bag which is my go-to bag of the moment. Mind you, I have a feeling this is going to change because I’ve got some super fabulous collaborations coming up so keep an eye out in the coming weeks.

And lastly, if you’re wondering about my hair, I plaited it after washing it because I just couldn’t be bothered drying it. Then I promptly went to bed and slept in the plaits. I used to do that a lot when my hair was longer. This is the result. A bit of a mess but at least it’s a bit different, for a change.
