I’m absolutely delighted to have been invited to be this month’s guest blogger with the Fab 40’s. And the theme today is one of my absolute favourite fabrics: velvet. Honestly, if I could have a third of my wardrobe in velvet, I would. The other two would be denim and lace 😉 Sadly, I don’t seem to own that much of it, which is weird considering my love for it. I think I’ve had lots of velvet over the years… Read more »

Happy 2018 my beautiful friends! As I write this, I’m curled up on the sofa in our fabulous hotel suite at the Grand Pavilion Hotel in Saratoga Springs. It’s actually much milder outside today at just –14˚C! I know, crazy right? It’s the coldest we’ve ever felt. Unfortunately, this has meant that all my plans for some fabulous outfit posts while on holiday have had to be put on hold. It’s just too darn cold to go out without my… Read more »

#dressedindutti is a hashtag for anyone posting photos of themselves wearing clothes by Massimo Dutti and if you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of the brand!  What does one do when it’s too dark outdoors to take photos? Well, take them in the bathroom, of course! Our en-suite has the best light in the house. Everywhere else is lit purely by sidelights and for photos, you really need decent (yet soft) overhead lights, right? Having… Read more »

Little Black Dress

The little black dress – they say every woman should own a little black dress. To be honest, this is one item that I have always lacked in my wardrobe. No, that’s not completely accurate. I’ve had a couple but they just haven’t felt ‘right’.  Until now. Actually, to be completely honest I’ve had this little black dress for a couple of years but, for some reason, have completely neglected it. The little black dress from Stradivarius I bought it… Read more »

floral choker top

Pretty floral choker top When I spotted this pretty floral choker top in Pull & Bear, I simply couldn’t resist it. The in-built choker means there is absolutely no need for a necklace. I’ve always loved chokers – I think it’s because they remind me of another era. Is it the Victorian times, perhaps? I actually had a pretty bad couple of weeks, to be honest. It started off with me overdoing it on the computer (when I get excited… Read more »

I love mustard yellow and white. It’s weird, because when I was younger I hated yellow. It looked awful on me. Now though, it’s a favourite. I’m sure it has something to do with changing skin tone and hair colour as we age. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It just means we can play around with colour a little more when we go shopping 😉 Massimo Dutti Last week, we had friends over for dinner and as it… Read more »

40 style blogger

We popped into Massimo Dutti last weekend and I fell in love with this black suede jacket. We certainly weren’t planning to spend €199 but when I put it on, I just knew it was a ‘me jacket’ – so hubby bought it for me! Aren’t I a lucky girl? I realise black on black isn’t the best way to show the jacket off but it’ll be featuring on the blog a lot in future – no doubt about it. It’ll go with almost anything…. Read more »

Chinos – the perfect trousers for dressing up or dressing down, don’t you think? The weather is slowly warming up here in the Algarve. Although, as I write this, it’s very grey and has been pouring with rain today. Two days ago though, I was out in the garden with my shorts on working on getting a little colour on my legs! Apparently there will be a little more rain over the next week or so but the summer is definitely… Read more »

tee-shirt slogans

Okay, so you’re probably wondering where the heck the wild horses come into this. Well, it’s simple – it’s merely the tee-shirt slogan on this top that I love. It’s pretty old – I reckon I’ve had it eight years or so but I still wear it to death every summer. Tee-shirt slogan My tee-shirt slogan reads, ‘Wanted: One Wild Horse’ and I just fell in love with it when I first spotted it. Lightweight and loose fitting, it’s perfect for when it’s really… Read more »

Lately, I’ve really been inspired by the 1920s. Particularly the fashion and the music of that era. So when I spotted this gorgeous black and pink floral velvet jacket, I just couldn’t resist it. Not only did it remind me of the fabulous Miss Fisher (I could totally see her wearing it), but it was also in the sale for next to nothing. I think I paid about 10 euros for it! I mentioned it on Instagram the next day:… Read more »
