The Ultimate Guide to the Best Witchy TV series You’ll Love

If you’re anything like me, there’s nothing better than curling up with a good witchy TV series. There’s just something so irresistible about magical worlds, mysterious spells, and powerful women embracing their strength. From cosy small-town vibes to dark and gothic tales, witches have cast their spell over TV for decades.

Ready to sprinkle a little magic on your watchlist? Here are some of the best witchy TV series you need to binge—plus where to watch them and why they’re worth your time! While a few aren’t strictly about witches, their magical worlds and spellbinding stories earn them a spot on this list.

1. Witches of East End

Where to watch: Hulu (US), Netflix, Disney+ in some regions, or buy on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.
Based on the books by Melissa de la Cruz, this gem follows the Beauchamp family—Joanna and her two daughters, Freya and Ingrid—as they discover their true magical heritage. The show is filled with family drama, romance, and supernatural danger, all set against a picturesque coastal town.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s got sisterhood, mystery, and a little bit of steamy romance. Plus, Julia Ormond as the matriarch witch? Absolute perfection. Not to mention the incredible Mädchen Amick who plays her sister. Honestly, it’s worth watching purely for the style inspo! I’d LOVE to own the wardrobe from this series lol. Fans (obv. me included) still mourn its early cancellation—so savour every episode!

2. A Discovery of Witches

Where to watch: AMC+, Netflix, Sundance Now, Prime Video (UK/US), or Sky in the UK.
This stunning series is based on Deborah Harkness’s All Souls Trilogy and follows Diana Bishop, a historian who happens to be a reluctant witch. When she discovers a long-lost magical manuscript, she’s thrown into a world of vampires, daemons, and forbidden love.
Why You’ll Love It: The chemistry between Diana and Matthew (a brooding vampire) is swoon-worthy, and the locations—from Oxford libraries to Venetian palazzos (not to mention time travel!)—are pure eye candy. Perfect for fans of magic with a scholarly twist.

3. Charmed (Original & Reboot)

Where to watch: The original is often on Peacock, Netflix, Apple or Amazon; the reboot is on Netflix in many regions.
The original Charmed became an icon of late-90s TV, following the Halliwell sisters as they embrace their powers and fight evil in San Francisco. The reboot introduces a new trio with a modern twist, tackling contemporary issues while still keeping that “Power of Three” magic alive.
Why You’ll Love It: For nostalgia and 90s fashion, the original wins—cosy fashion, witty banter, and campy demon-fighting fun. The reboot is fresh and diverse, giving the next generation its own magical moment. But I’ll always choose the original, because it was MY show back in the day!

4. Good Witch

Where to watch: Hallmark Channel, Apple, Roku, Netflix or Amazon.
This one’s all about charm—literally. Cassie Nightingale, the enchanting woman everyone wishes lived next door, brings a touch of magic and kindness to every situation. It’s a feel-good blend of gentle mysticism and heartwarming small-town life.
Why You’ll Love It: Zero dark drama—just soft, wholesome vibes with a dash of witchy wisdom. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon binge with a cuppa.

5. Salem

Where to watch: Amazon and Apple TV; sometimes streams on AMC+, Netflix or Hulu.
Dark, brooding, and a little twisted—Salem reimagines the infamous witch trials with an unexpected twist: the witches are real and pulling the strings. It’s gothic, gory, and drenched in dark atmosphere.
Why You’ll Love It: If you like your magic steeped in blood and intrigue (!), this is it. It’s unapologetically dark and features some seriously compelling (and morally grey) characters.

6. Mayfair Witches

Where to watch: AMC+, Apple TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Based on Anne Rice’s novels, this series follows a brilliant neurosurgeon who discovers she’s the heir to a dynasty of witches haunted by a sinister entity. Think lush visuals, cursed family secrets, and forbidden power.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s seductive, stylish, and full of gothic opulence. If you loved Interview with the Vampire (the new series), this has the same Anne Rice DNA—dark, sensual, and layered. And the fact that it’s set in the deep south, just makes this even better, in my opinion—with its’ gothic, moss-draped, steamy Southern setting, it’s a huge part of the atmosphere and charm.

7. Emerald City

Where to watch: Check Peacock or Amazon Prime for availability.
A bold reimagining of Oz, this short-lived series turns Dorothy’s journey into a dark fantasy epic with political intrigue, powerful witches, and a very adult tone.
Why You’ll Love It: Gorgeous cinematography, striking costume design, and a more complex take on familiar characters make this a must-watch for fans of twisted fairy tales. Such a great cast too!

8. Bewitched

Where to Watch: Roku, Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
This beloved ‘60s sitcom follows Samantha, a witch who marries a mortal and tries to live as an ordinary suburban housewife. Of course, life doesn’t go as planned, especially with her fabulously sarcastic mother, Endora, constantly stirring up trouble.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s retro, charming and a little cheeky. Endora is iconic—sass, style and feminist energy long before it was mainstream. If you love a mix of humour and magical mishaps, this is pure comfort viewing.

9. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Where to Watch: Netflix or Amazon.
A darker, horror-inspired reboot of the classic Sabrina story, this series plunges Sabrina Spellman into a world of occult politics, blood magic and family secrets—all while juggling high school life.
Why You’ll Love It: Gothic vibes, feminist themes and a lead character who’s clever, brave and morally complex. Plus, the set design is dripping with spooky glamour.

10. American Horror Story: Coven

Where to Watch: Hulu (US), Disney+ (many regions), Netflix or Prime Video.
One of the most loved AHS seasons, Coven centres on a secret academy for witches in New Orleans and explores sisterhood, power and survival in a brutal world.
Why You’ll Love It: The cast alone—Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates—apparently serve powerhouse performances. It’s stylish, sinister and packed with unforgettable one-liners. However, full disclosure, I haven’t actually watched this one yet (I’ve been concerned it might be a bit gory for my taste?) so I can’t give you my honest opinion! But I reckon it’s an amazing show purely for the cast!

11. WandaVision

Where to Watch: Disney+.
Marvel meets magic in this surreal miniseries that blends classic sitcom nostalgia with deep, witchy lore. Wanda Maximoff’s grief-fuelled alternate reality slowly unravels to reveal something much darker.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s smart, emotional and visually dazzling. Wanda is one of the most compelling modern witches on screen—flawed, powerful and deeply human. I couldn’t stop watching it because it was such a ‘different’ kind of genius show! Loved it!

12. Agatha All Along

Where to Watch: Disney+.
A spin-off of WandaVision, this series dives into the life of Agatha Harkness, everyone’s favourite mischievous witch from the original show. Expect dark humour, spellcraft and a healthy dose of camp.
Why You’ll Love It: Kathryn Hahn steals every scene. If you loved her in WandaVision, this is a wickedly fun deep dive into her world of chaos and charm. I’ve long been a fan of Hahn so I was thrilled when she was cast in her own show at last!

13. Hex

Where to Watch: DVD from Amazon (unfortunately this is the only place I could find—it doesn’t seem to be currently streaming)
A hidden gem from the mid-2000s, this British series follows Cassie, a lonely student who discovers she’s descended from witches—and gets tangled in a dangerous supernatural war.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s moody, atmospheric and full of British gothic vibes. Fans of Charmed or Buffy will feel right at home with this underrated cult favourite.

14. Sleepy Hollow

Where to Watch: Hulu (US) or Amazon Prime.
This supernatural thriller follows Ichabod Crane, resurrected centuries after his death, teaming up with a modern-day detective to fight evil forces—including witches—threatening the world.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s a clever mix of history, horror and action with a solid dose of witchcraft lore. Perfect for fans of dark, fast-paced storytelling. This was one of my all time favourite shows when it was first aired and I was gutted when it was cancelled after four seasons, but I still watch it and love it every time! It certainly helps that Ichabod Crane is played by the swoon-worthy Tom Mison though lol!

15. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

Where to Watch: Paramount+ and Prime Video
A spin-off of the original Penny Dreadful, this series takes you to 1930s Los Angeles where political tension and supernatural forces—witches included—collide in a noir-horror setting.
Why You’ll Love It: Stylish, eerie and full of occult intrigue, this one blends history with dark fantasy for something truly unique.

16. The Magicians

Where to Watch: Available on Netflix in most regions and Prime Video.
Based on Lev Grossman’s novels, this series follows a group of students at Brakebills University as they discover that magic is real—and far darker and more dangerous than they imagined.
Why You’ll Love It: It’s like an adult Harry Potter with sharper edges, complex characters and surprisingly deep themes about power, trauma and friendship. Plus, the spellcraft is visually stunning.

Honourable Mentions:

  • Motherland: Fort Salem – What if witches were militarised? Smart, unique, and full of surprises.
  • Eastwick – A fun, flirty series inspired by The Witches of Eastwick where three women discover their powers thanks to a mysterious stranger. Cancelled WAY too soon, but totally worth a watch if you can manage to find it anywhere!
  • The Secret Circle – Teen witches, small-town secrets, and a broody vibe.
  • Luna Nera – Italian period drama with witches versus patriarchy—plus, subtitles make it feel extra magical.
  • The Owl House (whimsical animated series with strong witch energy)
  • The Worst Witch (classic magic-school fun for younger viewers)
