Restaurant Ramiro – the best seafood in Lisbon!

Restaurant Ramiro 11

Last week we were fortunate to have dinner at Restaurant Ramiro – where we tasted the best seafood in Lisbon! I’m telling you, this food was meant for the Gods, it was absolutely heavenly 😉

The night before, we dined at another of Lisbon’s best restaurants (O Carvoaria, which is known for its deliciously-cooked red meat) and the waiter was kind enough to recommend Ramiro. So, the Wednesday night, we walked down the road from our hotel (we were lucky to be in the vicinity) and found a queue developing out front of Ramiro. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait more than twenty minutes until we found ourselves sitting at one of the best tables upstairs!

The menu was given us via iPad where we chose a small selection of prawns, clams and tiger prawns. Oh, I mustn’t forget the Pata Negra which was absolutely out of this world! Once the prawns arrived, we dug in. Our faces (below you’ll find our good friends Doug and Emma) immediately changed as we looked at each other and dived in for more. Seriously, folks, these were prawns like we’ve never tasted before. I’m totally salivating just thinking about them now!

The clams, done the traditional way in garlic, white wine and coriander just melted on the tongue, but we were still thinking about those prawns so we ordered some more!

Then came the tiger prawns… mmmm, I’m running out of words to describe them. But again, we needed more prawns so we ordered yet another plate.

All of this was served with lightly toasted bread which, again, was delicious (what a surprise!). After we’d had our fill of seafood, we opted for the most yummy lemon sorbet topped with vodka. What a fabulous way to end such a delicious meal.

All in all, we paid about 40 euros per head, which also included water, several cold beers and a glass of port. Not bad for a little piece of heaven, wouldn’t you say?
