We just had to visit Snowdonia

During our very first visit to Wales, we knew we just HAD to visit Snowdonia. There is something very special about mountains, after all, right? And we certainly weren’t disappointed. It was absolutely breathtaking. Luckily, we saw a little bit of snow – although not enough to write home about, but just a little dusting to somehow increase their beauty.

Although we only drove through, spending a few hours at Betws-y-Coed, it is something we won’t forget any time soon.

Whilst there, we spotted loads of cars and people preparing to go for a hike – even some as the sun started to go down which I thought was insane.

The following morning we heard on the news that a couple of hikers had become stuck up there overnight, fortunately both were rescued and neither had suffered injuries. I couldn’t even imagine how scary that must’ve been for them. It was freezing cold and very dark and bleak.

Although Snowdonia was absolutely beautiful, I have been thoroughly spoilt in the past (having visited Banff and Alberta in western Canada) and so found it difficult not to compare it with the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Canadian Rockies – somewhere hubby and I are itching to return to. But that’s another post altogether!
