A look that never dates: classic white tee, black blazer and blue jeans

A look that never dates

A look that never dates is the classic white tee, blue jeans and black blazer. It’s such a simple statement that’s been around for decades and I just love it.

A look that never dates

Back in the 90s, I remember flicking through teen fashion magazines and seeing supermodels wearing the classic white tee and black blazer, along with loose fitting blue jeans (they’d be pulled tight at the waist with a big belt if you remember?). Add to that bright red lipstick and lashings of black mascara and I always wished I could emulate the look.

A look that never dates

Fast forward (rather a lot) a few years later and it’s still in style. It really is a look that never dates and I would imagine that it never will.

A look that never dates

Last Sunday before we popped out for breakfast, I fumbled about in my wardrobe until I remembered that old favourite look and threw this look together.

A look that never dates

The lovely blazer is from George at Asda and it appeared on the blog a year ago. Would you believe I haven’t worn it since? The jeans are always on here, because they’re my absolute favourite pair of skinny Levi’s; and the grey Converse are another favourite. I really need to get a pair in red too though. Classic white tees can be bought just about anywhere, but I would recommend you find one that’s good quality. Surprisingly, I found this one in the sports shop in Aqua Shopping.

The outfit could easily be worn on a night out – just switch up the Converse for a pair of killer heels and you’re good to go.

Statement necklace

A look that never dates

I added a statement necklace (a gift from a friend) and red scarf (it was a bit chilly) and my trusty black cross body bag. And of course I couldn’t resist the red lippy! Just don’t look too closely at the lippy though – I made a bit of a mess with my lip line and as it’s a super duper long lasting lipstick, I couldn’t correct it lol. I did mention this lipstick in a previous post if you remember?

A black blazer and white tee is fabulous in it’s own right, but add your beautiful red scarf, gorgeous necklace, red lipstick and earrings and your precious face and you have a surefire winner! Classic at any moment in time. Thank you for the sweet comments on my blog about my retro outfit….I absolutely adored all the 80s movies especially John Hughes productions. That made my day!
