My journey with MasterClass: why I love learning from the greats

In today’s fast-paced world, the quest for knowledge has evolved into an exciting digital adventure. Among the vast array of online learning platforms, one shines particularly brightly for me: MasterClass. It’s not just about acquiring skills; it’s about delving into the minds of the masters themselves and gaining insights that can shape your own journey. As someone who values learning and growth, I’ve found MasterClass to be an invaluable resource that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking inspiration and empowerment. I treated myself to an annual subscription for Christmas last year. I also treated myself to a BBC Maestro subscription too but I’ll tell you about that in another post.

What sets MasterClass apart for me is the caliber of instructors it offers. From visionary founder of Spanx, Sara Blakely to savvy businesswoman Kris Jenner, each course is a masterclass in itself, offering unique perspectives and invaluable lessons. I must admit, I was initially skeptical about Kris Jenner’s course, given the fact that I’m generally not keen on that kind of reality TV. Yet, her wisdom went beyond the glitz of the screen, making me see Kris Jenner in a whole new light. I mean, her business game is seriously impressive! She is quite the woman!

Martha Stewart’s class, while shorter than some others, is a treasure trove of wisdom, packed with practical tips and timeless advice and it’s fascinating to see her work life. Elaine Welteroth’s course on journalism (and more) and RuPaul’s lessons on self-expression have been particularly enlightening, challenging me to think outside the box and embrace my authenticity, which you might have seen me mention in my YouTube video I shared a while back. (Also on that subject, check out my fun interpretation of Morticia Addams).

Currently, I’m engrossed in the teachings of Margaret Atwood and Shonda Rhimes, two women whose creativity and storytelling prowess I deeply admire. As an author myself, the opportunity to learn from these literary luminaries is priceless. Margaret Atwood, the brilliant mind behind one of my all-time favourite novels, The Handmaid’s Tale, imparts invaluable insights into the craft of writing, while Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind iconic shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, shares her secrets to crafting compelling narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide. I’m absolutely buzzing listening to these luminaries because they’ve reignited my writing mojo! After a hiatus, I’m finally putting the finishing touches on a novel I started two years ago, but lost my creative spark along the way.

But it’s not just about the big names; MasterClass also offers gems like comedian Kevin Hart (okay, so I guess he is a big name in Hollywood lol but there are others) and negotiator Chris Voss, whose courses I’m eager to dive into next. The platform’s annual subscription fee is a small price to pay for the wealth of knowledge and inspiration it provides, making it a worthwhile investment in my personal and professional growth.

In conclusion, Masterclass isn’t just about learning; it’s about embarking on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur, a creative enthusiast, or simply someone with a thirst for knowledge, MasterClass offers something for everyone. So, if you’re ready to unlock your full potential and learn from the greats, I wholeheartedly encourage you to join me on this transformative adventure with MasterClass.
