Before you start laughing at my awful make-up free, sleeping, face (!) and silly hair in plaits, this isn’t a style post (as if you haven’t figured that out by now!). This is all about the pillow. Yes, you read that right. Pillows. The problems I’ve had trying to find the right pillow is unbelievable.
Over the years, hubby and I have really struggled when it came to pillows. We’ve probably spent so much money trying to find the right ones to suit us. We are quite different. He likes a much softer pillow whereas I always preferred something just that little bit firmer.
The comfort pillow
Hubby’s problem was that he grew up with his ‘comfort pillow’. Seriously, it was like a comfort blanket. He couldn’t possibly sleep on anything else other than his Dunlo pillow. And when that wore out (and it did wear out), we literally went on an adventure to try and find something that would match up. We bought another Dunlo pillow but were so disappointed because it was absolutely nothing like the original.
Throughout all this, I was also trying to find my perfect pillow. I tried so many different brands, from Dunlo to Ikea to even Primark! But none were comfortable for me. And none were comfortable for hubby either. The only time we ever came close was during our most recent visit to the US. We stayed in a fabulous hotel in Saratoga Springs and their pillows were utterly wonderful. Unfortunately, while we were there, hubby was really sick with possible food poisoning so when we checked out, we didn’t purchase any of their pillows. We did try to buy them online from the hotel when we got home but it just didn’t work out.
So, over the next couple of years, I settled with an okay pillow from the local supermarket (!) and hubby found one from Ikea that he seemed to like. And then I was approached by Sealy to try one of theirs. Naturally, considering my obsession with finding the perfect pillow, I jumped at the chance. They gave me three options to choose from, which I duly did, and it arrived a week later.

And…OMG…. I finally found my perfect pillow!!! Seriously, I’m not joking. And I’m not just saying it because it was gifted to me. I couldn’t believe it. There is just one word to describe it and that word is: MAGIC. The first night I used it, I had my hair in plaits. And if you’ve ever done that, you’ll know that it ain’t comfortable lol. However, I had one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time. My head was in heaven… even with the plaits. I was amazed the following morning. So amazed, in fact, that the moment I woke up, I asked hubby to take a couple of photos of me kind of sleeping (top and bottom). They’re hideous… really hideous, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to show you how comfortable I was!
