Red and black: my go-to colours this season

Red and black

I don’t know why but lately, most of what I’ve been buying seems to be red and black. Perhaps it’s simply because there is a lot of it in the shops at the moment, or because I’m just drawn to it, I’m not entirely sure. But red and black is a colour combination I love.

Let’s go back a couple of months ago, when I bought a white v-neck tee in Mango. I loved the fabric and the way it hung so much that I immediately went online and bought the same t-shirt in white and in red (although it turned out to be more orange than red). A few weeks later I picked up a round-neck black tee and a red wool sweater in Benetton—it was during the same shopping spree that I bought my gorgeous red and black handbag from Desigual.

Some time later, I spotted these fabulous red and black sneakers in Asics and they were so massively reduced that I simply could not say no. They came home with me (naturally). Last week I ordered a long sleeved red tee from H&M and a little black sleeveless sweater. The tee is a bit snug though, which is annoying because I picked up my usual size (S). But it’ll do to wear underneath my sweaters.

Red and black

A few days later, I stumbled upon another bargain in the Cyber Monday sale. A pair of red mom jeans. I ordered them immediately because I thought they were the exact same pair of jeans that I bought in beige a few months ago. They arrived yesterday, but I stupidly realised they’re not the same pair because they’re from a different store! My beige jeans were from Stradivarius and the red ones are from Bershka. DOH! I ordered them in a 40 (like the beige ones)…but I haven’t tried them on yet. In Bershka, I often need a 42 or sometimes a 44, so it should be amusing to try, to say the least! I’ll keep you posted.

I sound like a massive shopaholic, don’t I? But to be fair, almost everything I bought was reduced in the sales lol. I have bought a few other things lately though too…but I’ll keep that for another day 😉

So what am I wearing in these very boring walking the dog photos? Well, the black / grey jeans were a bargain buy earlier this year from H&M. They’re a very flattering shape—thigh-hugging flares with a high waist. I’m not over keen on them though, because they don’t have front pockets, but I hid that with my red Benetton sweater. I added a black cotton snood, my red and black Asics, my black Stellar jacket and some red earrings (as well as some red lippy!) for a casual look.

Are you a fan of red and black? Or do you find the combination too stark?
