The Calling of the Trinity by Brittany Elise

The Calling of the Trinity

The fate of the supernatural world lies in the hands of the Trinity. Now that their powers have awakened, they’re one step closer to putting an end to the Darkness surrounding them. Or so they thought…

The death of Wren’s father brings an unsolicited visit from the Alpha Master of the Thornwood werewolf pack, and with it some troublesome news. Wren is faced with a decision that could mean the end of his life if he doesn’t choose wisely.

A mysterious book hidden in a secret room just might have the answers the Trinity is searching for. Perhaps with a little help from the past, a winged guardian, and new friends–the Trinity can persevere and rise against the Darkness.

Interview with the author of The Calling of the Trinity

Please tell us a little bit about your latest book, The Calling of the Trinity

The Calling of the Trinity is the sequel to Awakening the Trinity, and pretty much picks up right where the last book ended. I introduce quite a few new characters and a bit of drama to complicate our characters’ journey. As we know from the first book, Quinn, our heroin, along with Wren and Blaire (the members of the Trinity) are tasked with finding a way to destroy the Dark Witch’s ancient talisman. We also learn that nothing on earth can demolish the amulet, so Quinn and her friends must find a way to make sure the Dark Witch doesn’t return to power. On top of that, Wren runs into trouble with a neighbouring werewolf pack and they have demands of their own.

Did you always want to be an author?

Oh yes. I’ve loved writing since I was a kid. I used to make up stories in my head and write them down in a notebook since I didn’t have access to a computer. I wrote several “books” in high school, too, but none of those will ever see the light of day. Haha.

What inspires you?

I draw inspiration from music and nature. I do a lot of hiking and exploring, and sometimes the music that I’m listening to sparks an idea. There’s so much in the world to draw inspiration from. You just have to be open-minded.

How many books have you written so far?

I have three published books, but I also have plenty of others that haven’t made it out into the world yet. I’m always writing. My problem is that I can’t seem to stay focused on one story at a time, so I end up taking breaks to work on whatever I’m feeling the most gravitational pull towards. That being said, I’ve lost count on how many I’ve created!

What’s the next project?

I wrote a prequel to the Trinity series called The Awakening of Emery Green. I’m planning on releasing that on my website possibly in the winter/spring. I also recently finished a YA post-apocalyptical novel that I’m so very excited about. I haven’t decided what’s going to become of that one yet, but I’m in love with it. And of course, I’m wrapping up the Trinity series with the third and final book as well.

What do you think is the best thing about being an author?

Oh goodness. I love telling stories, and for me, I think the best thing is just hoping someone is touched by what I create. I love invoking the reader’s imagination. I want people to feel something when they read my stories, so that, I think, is what I like best.

I see that you have a degree in photography. Are you still a keen photographer?

I recently just picked up photography again. When I graduated, I did all the typical senior pictures, family shoots, weddings, etc. and quickly became burned out. I took a major break from photography, but I’m always looking for some sort of creative outlet. I decided to try my hand at portrait photography and do more of “enchanting-type” photoshoots. I really just want to show people how beautiful they are; whatever that means to them, whether it be dressing as a pin-up or putting on some fairy wings and a beautiful dress… I just want to change the perspective of beauty and show people that there’s beauty in the make-believe as well. I’m intrigued by your day job at your local airport, can you tell us more?

I love my job. The people I’m around have become like family to me, and they make going to work so wonderful. There’s good and bad in everything, but I truly enjoy what I do. I manage an FBO (which stands for fixed-based operator) where we service planes at a small airport. I’ve been there for twelve years now, and have been the manager for three. We marshal planes onto the ramp, get them parked, fuel them up, and take care of whatever needs they make have. Sometimes pilots are just stopping to re-fuel, or sometimes they want to borrow a car and go to lunch, or maybe they have business in the area. We see planes of all shapes and sizes, which means sometimes I’m out there hauling a fifty-pound hose across the ramp to re-fuel jets. It’s a physical job, but my team makes it easy and we have a lot of fun doing what we do. There are so many details but I don’t want to get into them because I’d never stop talking, haha. If anyone would like me to elaborate further, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Thank you so much, Brittany!
