Khaki (again) and the first time I’m wearing contact lenses

Hi folks! Here I am wearing yet another khaki outfit, and this has become a firm favourite this summer. I’ve worn it so many times that the top is starting to wear out already lol. I bought it a few months ago from Zara, and I wish I’d have bought it in another colour now. It’s the perfect summer top, all floaty and light. Can you tell I love it? I’m wearing it with another favourite: my slim-fitting khaki combats, bought from H&M last year. The (super) flat sandals were a recent purchase from Aldo.

Aldo….why?

Khaki outfit

Speaking of Aldo, I love their shoes but to be honest, I really don’t like shopping there. I find the staff to be overbearing and pushy. I seriously cannot understand why they are trained to act the way they do. I know they’re just trying hard to make a sale, but honestly, it’s ridiculous. It’s happened every time I’ve been in there (and I’ve been in a few Aldo shops throughout Portugal and beyond) and it often prevents me from stepping in there. It’s a shame really. But enough about Aldo. Let’s talk about my eyes.

Wearing contact lenses

Contact lenses

LOL So this is the first time I’ve used contact lenses (apart from in the opticians), and I managed to put them in relatively easily. I kept them in for about two hours (as recommended by my fabulous optician) and then took them out because they were starting to irritate. It’s so weird. It really does feel like you’ve got something in your eyes (which of course you do!). I decided to try them out because occasionally my glasses rub the bridge of my nose and it hurts. So I wanted a back-up for when that does happen. Hence the contacts.

My optician suggested I try them next time for about four hours and slowly increase the length of time I use them. She also told me not to use them when I’m working on my computer, so I guess that means I won’t be using them an awful lot! But I’ll keep you posted how it goes.

My bruised forehead

Khaki yellow bruise

Now, let’s mention my forehead lol. Yes that’s one heck of a yellow bruise I’ve got isn’t it? I walked into the stairs last week (under the stairs if that makes sense). I whacked it so hard that I had to sit on the floor for five minutes. It’s not the first time I’ve done it either. I’m such a klutz. Apparently when I was a kid, I was constantly walking into things and was covered in bruises. My dad says he and my mum used to get so embarrassed going out with me because it looked like I was beaten up lol. Looks like things never changed! Even now, I’ve usually got bruises all over my legs from walking into furniture. Hubby is always telling me I should watch where I’m going (eye roll!).

Maybe this is where my love of khaki came from… the bruises that start off red, go purple, yellow and then khaki lol! I obviously like to match my outfits!
