Strolling along the beach in a black ensemble

Yesterday we went for a long drive to the small town of Rogil on the Algarve’s west coast. The purpose of the trip? To visit a favourite cafe where they make the most delicious cakes. Stupidly, I neglected to take photos of said cakes so you’ll have to do with me strolling along the beach side in a black ensemble instead 😉

On the way home, we made a quick pit stop down a long and winding road which culminates at the beautiful beach of Amoreira where a multitude of surfers were doing their ‘thing’ on the waves. In my early twenties, we used to visit that beach fairly regularly but over the years we’ve kind of forgotten about it. But it’s the ideal beach for people with youngsters because it has a lagoon where kids can paddle away from the crashing waves.

It was a glorious day with azure blue skies and just a few wispy white clouds hovering above. Warm in the sun but chilly in the shade, I certainly needed my purple scarf to keep me warm. That and my favourite black Doc Marten boots, of course 😀 I bought them years ago from Schuh, one of my go-to online stores.

Channeling my inner rock chick, I opted for a black ensemble. Skinny jeans, a plain black sweater and another favourite – this incredibly cheap necklace which I bought years ago from Primark! The outfit was finished off with my black Marta Ponti leather handbag and two gorgeous rings given to me by my mother-in-law. I had intended to wear black earrings too but I couldn’t find the ones I wanted…I still haven’t found them. I’ve no idea what I’ve done with them :/

Hubby was on hand to take the photos, which wasn’t so easy considering my all black ensemble and the bright sunlight. I must say I did like this particular photo though. Even though it’s totally over-exposed, I think it’s kinda cool. And it shows the pattern on my scarf really well 😉

Is it just me, Suzy, or do you look like a rock n roll star on vacation???

On the blog today, I’m talking about the hush-hush topic of self-love. Yup. Me, myself and I. I’d love for you to come over and weigh in, and share your thoughts. It’s interesting to note that despite it being the 21st century, and we’re preaching confidence and empowerment, the subject still remains somewhat risque.
