A chat with Greetje from No Fear of Fashion

One thing I’ve been keen to do with The Grey Brunette is to invite some amazing bloggers / influencers / Instagrammers over for a chat, and the first person who came to mind was Greetje from No Fear of Fashion. Not only are Greetje’s posts usually full of bright colours (she loves to have fun with fashion) and wonderful Dutch backdrops, but they always make me laugh! She is such a hoot, and I really hope to meet her in real life sometime soon. I just know we’ll laugh the whole time we’re together! So, without further ado, please say hi to Greetje…

Greetje, No Fear of Fashion

Hi Greetje! It’s wonderful to have you on the blog. Tell me, how long have you been blogging?
Eight years. Since November 2012. (Well, and 1 post in July 2012 which was commented on by two -Spanish- people.)

Why did you call your blog, No Fear of Fashion?
It just popped up in my head. I quickly needed a name when I was creating a blog account in Blogger for the sole reason to comment on other blogs. I had no clue why that was necessary. It wasn’t of course.

How would you describe your style?
Casual chic if you want to put a label on it. Usually I say: “My style is all over the place”. I can go from jeans with chunky boots to a chic dress with pumps.

Have you always been interested in fashion and style?
Yes, just didn’t always have the money. When I was 12 and staying with my aunt, she asked my mother: “What is wrong with that child? She changes clothes three times a day!” And I didn’t have a lot of clothes back then.

A style icon…

Who are your style icons?
I have one: Victoria Beckham. I wish I could dress like her, but I realize I am not her. She can control herself and not pile up the bling bling for instance.

English singer and socialite Victoria Beckham attends a promotional event in Shanghai, China, 16 May 2017.

Do you have a favourite item (or items) of clothing?
Jeans. Although I would really miss it if I was denied wearing dresses or skirts, my jeans are my go-to items. I have many shapes. This preference is highly influenced by the fact they look good on me and by the fact that jeans are worn a heck of a lot in the Netherlands and especially in Amsterdam.

Where do you like to shop? Do you prefer to shop in-store or online?
I like to shop in boutiques, preferably with good quality clothes and a sales lady who can style. If she is good she can really cash with me as a client. I like good brands but there is a limit to my budget. Unfortunately I suck at finding good vintage pieces.

What was your favourite purchase in the last year? One of mine was a cordless Dyson vacuum cleaner lol!
That Dyson is good isn’t it? We have one since 1 1/2 year and I cannot imagine I ever could live without it. It is too hard to choose my favourite purchase of last year. I have this lovely silk green and yellow top which I love. And a red with pink pleated skirt. But if you twist my arm, I would choose a green batwing jumper, which is a killer combination with a pair of bright pink trousers.

A firm favourite…

I love that your posts are always so upbeat and often quite funny—is this intentional?
It is very intentional as the subtitle of my blog is “Live, learn and laugh”. My posts are meant to entertain, to make people smile or perhaps even laugh. I don’t always have things to write that are funny, but somehow most people seem to find something funny anyway. And I am quite a cheerful person.

What do you like to do for fun?
This question is begging for a naughty answer, but I will restrain myself haha. Like you, I love to go into town with a friend, shop a little, have lunch and/or cappuccino together and chat chat chat.

Greetje, this has been enormous fun! Thank you so much xx
