Fab40s: channeling my inner child

So… have you figured out what it is that inspires the inner child in me? LOL of course you have! It’s Harry Potter…

It’s the last Monday of the month which means one thing: the Fab40s. This time, it was my turn to choose the theme. And because of the tough times we have all been going through lately, I wanted us all to channel our inner children.

Originally, I had hoped I’d have the chance to go shopping to find something in a particular fabric that always reminds me of my childhood. It has a shimmer to it, like mermaid scales, and it’s a pinky, purple, blue shade. I get so excited whenever I see it because I once had a a barbie doll that had a dress made out of it and I adored that dress lol. Sadly, like everyone else, I couldn’t go shopping. So, I decided to style my outfit using the other thing that always makes me smile, and brightens my day–Harry Potter.

Harry Potter and my inner child

Inner child inspiration

Inner child style

My inner child jumps for joy at the mere mention of Harry Potter. I love everything about it, and I own so many HP things including this fabulous tee-shirt that I bought during my favourite holiday to the States a few years ago. We spent a couple of glorious day at Universal Studios in Orlando and I will never forget it. Sigh. But anyway, we’re talking outfits, right?

Harry Potter inspires my inner child, as do all things witchy (as you will already know if you’re a regular visitor), therefore I wanted my outfit to have a witchy vibe to it. Do you think I succeeded? Perhaps the wand helps lol! We bought it at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, along with the tee and a Platform 9 3/4 cushion. The snitch was a gift from the in-laws, and the bag a gift from dear friends.

Boho witchy vibes

I bought the crochet cardigan a few years ago from a local shop, and I adore it. Don’t you think it’s got a real witchy vibe to it? It’s kind of boho too, right? I love to wear it with a vest top and skinny jeans as well. The shoes came from another shop on our local high street but I’m not sure it’s still there, sadly. I hadn’t intended to wear the sparkly skirt but when I tried it on, it just felt right and I love a bit of sparkle. Who doesn’t?!

As usual, most of my jewellery came from my mother-in-law who loves to spoil me! The only thing that didn’t, are the black dangly earrings which came from Brigitte Bijou years ago.

And that’s it. That’s my outfit inspired by my inner child. What do you think? Do you like it? What would your inner child wear? Let’s see how the other Fab40s gals used their inner children to style their outfits…

Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge

I LOVE the way Shelbee chose to style her outfit this month. A pretty prom dress with sneakers. Isn’t that just a divine combination? It’s super cool in every way, and she looks absolutely gorgeous! And the addition of those cute frilly socks is utter perfection <3

Dee, Dee Sayz

Dee says she was always a nerdy kid and always wore shorts, hence her outfit choice this month. I just love how she styled them with the gorgeous green blouse (my favourite colour). And the glasses give her an even more sophisticated look!

Outfit Details:
Top: Local Market, Delhi
Shorts: H&M
Platforms: Aldo

Daenel, Living Outside the Stacks

Daenel’s outfit is inspired by a red dress she owned when she was younger. It had layers and embroidery and she felt like a flamenco dancer whenever she wore it! As she was going through her closet, she saw this embroidered blouse and the sleeves reminded her of her favourite dress! Isn’t that just the best? And Daenel, you look fabulous. I’m also in love with your animal print sandals!!

Sheela, Sheela Goh

This month Sheela and I are true kindred spirits, both taking inspiration from magical lands, faerie folk and the like! I adored reading her description and just love her photo, which is so whimsical and gorgeous! Normally I say she looks she’s just stepped off the pages of Vogue–today she’s just stepped off of Platform 9 3/4.

And speaking of Platform 9 3/4…

My hubby is even more of a big kid than me lol….
