A practical option: wearing leggings with skirts

An old trend that is back ‘in’ this year is a firm favourite of mine, and such a practical option: wearing leggings with skirts. Just like wearing dresses with jeans, it’s one of those looks that suits so many different shapes and sizes. Plus, it’s great if you a) haven’t got round to shaving your legs and/or b) have legs as white as snow (yup!).

On this particular occasion, we were headed up the mountain and I knew it would be chilly and so I couldn’t handle the thought of bare legs! I was right, it was brrrrrrrr…

One of the great things about wearing leggings with skirts, is that they look great with so many different styles – mini, midi, tight, flary, a-line, even pencil skirts (I tried a pencil skirt with this outfit but opted for this simple H&M mini instead). Shorter leggings are also a great option.

If you swipe through the photos above, you’ll see me looking ridiculous in the last two. I was trying so hard to do something with my hands, I ended up doing a Madonna Vogue moment – much to the amusement of Michael. You gotta laugh, right?

We had fun on this ‘shoot’ because the surroundings are just so beautiful up the Monchique mountains (not far from our home) and Michael was enjoying taking photos even more than usual, I think!

But back to my outfit, not only did I wear my trusty denim jacket (it’s always my go-to garment for a bit of extra warmth this time of year), but I also put on my favourite grey Converse All-Stars (again, another go-to pair that I just love) because they go with practically everything. Perhaps not very elegant but perfect for a wander up the mountains! The top is a lightweight sweater from H&M. I finished it off with a simple yet chunky chain necklace, silver hoop earrings and a cross body bag (which I bought from a surf/skate shop a couple of years ago). An easy look that’s also a bit of fun, don’t you think? The only thing lacking was a bit of colour!
